This is a combination cough mixture (known locally as Dr. Meyer's Coflin Cough Linctus) that works in several ways: it calms allergic reactions that cause coughing, loosens thick phlegm in your chest so you can cough it out, opens up blocked airways, and gives a cooling soothing feeling in your throat.
Blocks H1 histamine receptors to reduce allergic symptoms and sedates the cough centre; stimulates α-adrenergic receptors to cause nasal vasoconstriction and decongest airways; increases sputum fluidity through ammonium chloride and sodium citrate to facilitate expectoration; and menthol provides local cooling and mild bronchodilation to the respiratory tract.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not double up to make up for it.
This medicine can make you very drowsy, so do not drive, operate machines, or do anything that needs full alertness after taking it. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and check the expiry date, and avoid buying cough syrups from roadside sellers or open markets where storage conditions are poor. Do not use this linctus for a long time without a doctor's advice, as the ephedrine component can become habit-forming.
Do not take with alcohol, as it makes the drowsiness much worse and can be dangerous. Avoid taking it with other cough and cold medicines as you may accidentally double the dose of similar ingredients. If you are taking medicine for high blood pressure or depression, talk to your doctor first because the ephedrine in this linctus can interfere with those drugs.
