Who is this for?

Chlorphenamine (also called chlorpheniramine) is an antihistamine that works by blocking a natural substance called histamine in your body, which is responsible for causing allergic reactions like sneezing, itching, and watery eyes.

Is Chlorphenamine safe to take with another drug?

Adults should take 1 tablet (4 mg) every 4 to 6 hours as needed, up to a maximum of 6 tablets (24 mg) in 24 hours. You can take it with or without food, but taking it with food may reduce stomach upset. Be aware that this drug will likely make you feel sleepy, so avoid taking it when you need to drive or operate machinery.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

Alcohol — drinking alcohol while taking chlorphenamine will make the drowsiness much worse and can be dangerous. Sleeping tablets or sedatives (like diazepam) — combining them with chlorphenamine can cause extreme sleepiness. Other antihistamines (like cetirizine or loratadine) — do not take them together as this increases the risk of side effects.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so do not leave it in your car or near a window. Keep the container tightly closed to protect from moisture. Always keep out of reach of children.
