Who is this for?
This is a combination cough medicine containing chlorphenamine (an antihistamine that reduces allergic reactions and dries up runny nose), ammonium chloride (an expectorant that loosens thick mucus in your chest so you can cough it out), and sodium citrate (which helps thin out the mucus). It is commonly known in Nigeria as Piriton Expectorant Linctus.
Blocks H1 histamine receptors to reduce allergic symptoms and mucus production, while ammonium chloride acts as an expectorant to thin and facilitate clearance of respiratory secretions, and sodium citrate provides alkalinizing support to aid mucociliary clearance.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it's almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Don't take a double dose to make up for it.
This medicine makes you drowsy, so do not drive or operate heavy machinery after taking it, especially for commercial drivers and okada riders. Always buy from a registered pharmacy, not roadside sellers, to make sure you are getting the genuine Piriton Expectorant product. Do not use this syrup for more than 7 days without seeing a doctor, as if your cough is not improving, you may need proper medical check-up.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine as it will make the drowsiness much worse. Be careful if you are taking sleeping pills, anxiety medicines, or other antihistamines like regular Piriton tablets, as combining them can make you extremely sleepy. If you are on blood pressure medication, check with your pharmacist first.
