Who is this for?

Apalutamide (sold as Erleada) is a cancer drug that works by blocking the male hormone testosterone from fueling the growth of prostate cancer cells.

Binds to the androgen receptor with high affinity and blocks its nuclear translocation, preventing androgen-mediated transcription of prostate cancer growth genes. Additionally inhibits androgen synthesis by suppressing CYP17A1 enzyme activity, reducing intratumoral testosterone production.

Is Apalutamide safe to take with another drug?

Take 4 tablets of Erleada 60 mg (that is 240 mg total) once daily. You can take it with or without food — just swallow the tablets whole with water. Take it at the same time every day so you don't forget.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If you have already missed the whole day, skip that dose and take your normal dose the next day. Do not take double to make up for the missed one.

• hot flushes (sudden feeling of warmth)
• loss of appetite or weight loss

Apalutamide can reduce the effectiveness of many other drugs including blood thinners like warfarin, so tell your doctor about all medicines you take. It may also reduce how well some heart and blood pressure medicines work. Avoid alcohol as it can worsen tiredness and other side effects.

Store at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. In Nigeria's hot climate, keep it in a cool, dry place — not in the bathroom or kitchen. Always keep it out of reach of children.
