This is a combination cough mixture (commonly sold as Menthodex Cough Syrup) that works in several ways: ammonium chloride and squill help loosen thick phlegm so you can cough it out more easily, sodium citrate helps reduce the thickness of mucus, and menthol gives a cooling, soothing feeling in your throat and airways.
Enhances mucus hydration and reduces viscosity through osmotic effects (ammonium chloride and sodium citrate), while menthol stimulates cold-sensitive TRPM8 receptors to produce a cooling sensation that promotes airway clearance and subjective respiratory comfort; squill acts as a mucokinetic agent by irritating gastric mucosa reflexively to stimulate bronchial secretions and facilitate expectoration.

If you miss a dose, just take it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not double up to make up for a missed dose.
