Who is this for?

This is a combination medicine containing two blood pressure-lowering drugs — Amlodipine (which relaxes your blood vessels) and Perindopril (which stops your body from producing a chemical that tightens blood vessels). Together, they work to bring your blood pressure down more effectively than either drug alone.

Blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle and cardiac tissue, causing vasodilation and reduced cardiac contractility, while inhibiting angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) to prevent angiotensin II formation, thereby reducing peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure through complementary mechanisms.

Is Amlodipine safe to take with another drug?

Take one tablet once daily, preferably in the morning before food. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Your doctor will decide which strength is right for you — common strengths in Nigeria include Coveram 5mg/5mg, 5mg/10mg, 10mg/5mg, and 10mg/10mg. Do not stop taking it even if you feel fine, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms.

If you miss a dose, skip it and take your next dose at the usual time the following morning. Do not take two tablets to make up for the missed one.

• Swelling of the ankles or feet
• feeling dizzy or lightheaded
• headache
• dry cough (this is common with Perindopril and usually not dangerous)
• feeling tired or weak

Avoid taking potassium supplements or salt substitutes that contain potassium, as Perindopril can raise potassium levels dangerously. NSAIDs like ibuprofen (e.g. Brufen) can reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect and harm your kidneys if used regularly. Alcohol can make dizziness and low blood pressure worse, so limit your intake.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigeria's hot weather can damage medicines left in cars or near windows. Keep the tablets in their original pack and away from children.
