Amlozaar Tablets

Who is this for?

This is a combination medicine containing two blood pressure-lowering drugs — Amlodipine (which relaxes your blood vessels) and Losartan (which blocks a chemical that tightens blood vessels) — so they work together to bring your blood pressure down more effectively.

Is Amlodipine safe to take with another drug?

Take one tablet once a day, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Common strengths are Amlodipine 5mg/Losartan 50mg or Amlodipine 5mg/Losartan 100mg — your doctor will choose the right strength for you. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not stop taking it because you feel fine — high blood pressure often has no symptoms.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for a missed dose.

• feeling tired or weak
• mild stomach upset

Avoid taking potassium supplements or potassium-rich salt substitutes as Losartan can raise potassium levels dangerously. NSAIDs like ibuprofen (Brufen) and diclofenac can reduce the blood pressure-lowering effect and harm your kidneys if used regularly. Alcohol can increase dizziness and lower your blood pressure too much, so drink very little or avoid it entirely.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near windows. Keep the tablets in their original pack and far out of reach of children.
