This is a combination antacid and anti-gas medicine that works by neutralizing excess stomach acid and relieving bloating caused by trapped gas in your belly.
Neutralizes gastric acid by binding hydrogen ions through chemical reactions with hydroxide and silicate compounds, while dimethyl polysiloxane reduces surface tension of gas bubbles to facilitate expulsion of intestinal gas and bloating.

For adults, take 1-2 tablets (chewed well) or 10-20ml of suspension between meals and at bedtime, or as the pain comes. If using Jawasil Antacid Suspension, shake the bottle well before measuring your dose. Take it about 1 hour after eating or when you feel the heartburn.
Since this medicine is usually taken when you feel symptoms like heartburn or stomach pain, there is no strict schedule. Simply take it when you next feel the discomfort. Do not double up doses.
Buy only from registered pharmacies — avoid roadside sellers as fake antacids are common in Nigeria. Do not use this medicine daily for more than 2 weeks without seeing a doctor, as ongoing stomach pain could be a sign of something more serious. If your symptoms keep coming back, see a doctor instead of just managing it with antacids.
This medicine can reduce how well other drugs work if taken at the same time — especially antibiotics like tetracycline and ciprofloxacin, so take them at least 2 hours apart. It can also affect iron tablets and malaria drugs, so space them out. No major interaction with alcohol, but alcohol worsens stomach acid, so it is better to avoid it.
