Trimetazidine is a heart medication that helps your heart muscle work better by improving how it uses energy, especially when blood flow to the heart is reduced.
Inhibits mitochondrial long-chain 3-ketoacyl-coenzyme A thiolase (the final enzyme of beta-oxidation), shifting cardiac energy metabolism from fatty acid to glucose oxidation and improving myocardial efficiency during ischaemia.
