Rabeprazole sodium is a drug that reduces the amount of acid your stomach produces by blocking the acid-making pump in your stomach lining, giving your stomach time to heal from ulcers and irritation.
Inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase pump on gastric parietal cells, irreversibly blocking the final step of gastric acid secretion and reducing intragastric pH. This suppresses both basal and stimulated acid production, thereby promoting ulcer healing and relieving acid-related gastrointestinal symptoms.
Stomach ulcer, heartburn (acid reflux), chest burning from excess acid (GERD), stomach pain caused by too much acid, ulcers caused by bacteria called H. pylori (when combined with antibiotics), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (a condition where the stomach makes too much acid)
