How it works

Inhibits the H+/K+-ATPase pump in gastric parietal cells, reducing gastric acid secretion and creating an acidic environment unfavourable for H. pylori survival, while clarithromycin and amoxicillin inhibit bacterial protein synthesis and cell wall integrity respectively, eradicating the pathogen.

How to take this drug

The usual adult dose is rabeprazole 20mg + clarithromycin 500mg + amoxicillin 1000mg, all taken together twice a day (morning and evening) for 7 to 14 days. Take with or before food. You must complete the full course even if you feel better — stopping early can make the bacteria resistant. In Nigeria, Pyrox Combi Tablets is a common brand that packages all three together for convenience.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for it.
