How to take this drug

Podophyllin is applied directly to the wart by a healthcare worker — it is NOT something you apply by yourself at home in most cases. For the cream form like Wings Podophyllin Cream 0.15%, apply a thin layer only on the wart as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. Avoid getting it on normal surrounding skin. Wash your hands thoroughly after use.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss an application, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not apply extra to make up for the missed dose.

What to watch out for

This is a very strong chemical — only use it exactly as your doctor or pharmacist directs, and never apply it to large areas of skin. Do not try to treat warts on your own by buying podophyllin from roadside sellers or applying it without medical guidance. If warts keep coming back, see a doctor — you may need a different type of treatment.

peeling or flaking of the skin around the wart
mild pain or soreness at the treatment site

Severe skin burns
blistering
or open sores at the application site — stop using and see a doctor immediately. Signs of the drug being absorbed into your body such as nausea
vomiting
diarrhea
confusion
or numbness in your hands and feet — go to the hospital right away.

Drug Interactions

Do not use other wart removal products (like salicylic acid) at the same time as podophyllin — this can cause severe skin damage. Avoid applying any perfumed creams, oils, or lotions on or near the treated area. If you are using any other skin medications, tell your doctor before starting podophyllin.

Podophyllin is NOT safe during pregnancy or breastfeeding — it can cause serious harm to the unborn baby and should be completely avoided by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

people with moles or birthmarks (podophyllin is only for warts)

How to Store

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so keep it in a cupboard or drawer, not near windows. Keep the container tightly closed and far out of children's reach.
