Pancuronium is a muscle relaxant given by injection that temporarily paralyzes muscles by blocking nerve signals, making it easier for doctors to perform surgery or place a breathing tube.
Binds competitively to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junction, preventing acetylcholine binding and blocking depolarization of muscle fibers, resulting in sustained neuromuscular blockade and muscle paralysis.
