How to take this drug

For most infections, take one 400mg tablet twice a day (morning and evening). Take it on an empty stomach — at least 1 hour before food or 2 hours after food. Swallow with a full glass of water and drink plenty of water throughout the day. Complete the full course your doctor prescribed, usually 7 to 14 days depending on the infection.

What if I Miss a Dose?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take two tablets at once to make up for the missed dose.

Severe joint or tendon pain (especially in the Achilles tendon at the back of your ankle) — stop the drug and see a doctor immediately. Skin rash with swelling of the face or difficulty breathing which could be a serious allergic reaction. Unusual tiredness

or yellowing of the eyes which may indicate liver problems.

Drug Interactions

Do not take norfloxacin with antacids, iron supplements, or calcium tablets — these reduce its effectiveness; wait at least 2 hours between them. Avoid taking it with blood thinners like warfarin as it can increase the risk of bleeding. Avoid alcohol while on this drug as it may worsen side effects like dizziness and stomach upset.

Who Should NOT Take This

People allergic to norfloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics (like ciprofloxacin or ofloxacin)
children under 18 years
people with a history of tendon problems caused by fluoroquinolones
people with epilepsy or seizure disorders
and those with severe kidney disease unless the dose is adjusted by a doctor.
