The usual starting dose is one 5 mg tablet once a day, preferably at the same time each day. You can take it with or without food. Your doctor may start you on a lower dose (2.5 mg) and increase it gradually. Swallow the tablet with water — do not crush or chew it. Available in Nigeria as Nebilong 5, Nodon 5, and Nodon 10 tablets.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for a missed dose.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking nebivolol as it can make dizziness and low blood pressure worse. Do not take it with other blood pressure medicines like verapamil or diltiazem without your doctor's guidance, as your heart rate can drop dangerously low. Be cautious if you are using diabetes medicines — nebivolol can hide the warning signs of low blood sugar like fast heartbeat.
