Fluticasone propionate is a steroid medicine that works by reducing swelling and irritation in your airways, making it easier to breathe.
Binds to glucocorticoid receptors in the cytoplasm of airway cells, translocating to the nucleus to suppress inflammatory gene expression and reduce production of cytokines, chemokines, and adhesion molecules that drive airway inflammation and bronchoconstriction.

For adults, the usual dose is 2 puffs of the Flixotide Evohaler (50-250 mcg strength) twice daily — morning and evening. Shake the inhaler well before each use. This is a preventer inhaler, so use it every day even when you feel fine, not just when you have breathing trouble. Rinse your mouth with water after each use to prevent mouth infections.
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your regular schedule. Do not take double puffs to make up for the missed dose.
Always buy your Flixotide Evohaler from a registered pharmacy — fake inhalers from roadside sellers may contain the wrong medicine or nothing at all. Do not stop using this inhaler suddenly because your doctor told you to use it regularly, even when you feel fine, to prevent asthma attacks. Ritonavir and ketoconazole (antifungal medicines) can increase the level of fluticasone in your body and cause serious side effects — tell your doctor if you are taking them.
