Who is this for?

This is a multivitamin and mineral supplement that combines iron, folic acid, vitamin B12, and several other essential vitamins and minerals to help your body stay healthy, fight tiredness, and build strong blood.

Replenishes essential micronutrients required for erythropoiesis (iron as Fe²⁺ for haemoglobin synthesis; folate and B12 as cofactors for DNA synthesis), energy metabolism (B1, B2, B6, niacin as coenzymes in the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation), antioxidant defence (vitamins A, C, E as free radical scavengers), and immune function (zinc and vitamin A for lymphocyte proliferation and antibody production).

Is Ferrous safe to take with another drug?

Take 1 capsule once or twice daily, preferably with food to avoid stomach upset. Swallow with a full glass of water. Taking it with a meal also helps your body absorb the iron and vitamins better. Known in Nigeria as Biotonic Capsule.

If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not take two capsules at once to make up for a missed dose.

• Dark-coloured stool (this is normal and caused by the iron)
• mild stomach upset or nausea
• constipation
• slight change in urine colour
• mild headache

Do not take this supplement at the same time as tetracycline or ciprofloxacin antibiotics, as the iron can reduce how well those drugs work — space them at least 2 hours apart. Antacids (like aluminium or magnesium-containing ones) can also reduce iron absorption. Avoid taking with tea or coffee as they reduce how much iron your body absorbs.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Keep the container tightly closed to protect from humidity. Always keep out of reach of children.
