Fenofibrate is a cholesterol-lowering medicine that works by reducing the amount of bad fats (triglycerides and cholesterol) in your blood and increasing the good cholesterol, helping to protect your heart and blood vessels.
Activates peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α), which increases lipoprotein lipase activity and reduces triglyceride synthesis while enhancing HDL cholesterol production and lowering LDL cholesterol levels.
