Enoxaparin is a blood-thinning injection that helps prevent blood clots from forming in your veins by reducing your blood's ability to clot. It is sold in Nigeria under the brand name Clexane.
Inhibits Factor Xa in the coagulation cascade by binding to and potentiating antithrombin III, preventing thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation.
Prevention of blood clots after surgery, treatment of deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in the legs), prevention of blood clots in people who are bedridden, treatment of certain types of heart attack and chest pain caused by poor blood flow to the heart

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Always use the injection exactly as your doctor prescribed and do not stop it early even if you feel fine. Watch for unusual bruising, bleeding, or dark-coloured stool and report to your doctor immediately.
Avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen, or diclofenac (Voltaren) together with enoxaparin unless your doctor specifically says so, as they increase your risk of bleeding. Herbal supplements like ginger and garlic in large amounts can also increase bleeding risk. Alcohol should be limited as it can worsen bleeding problems.
