Dolutegravir is an antiretroviral (anti-HIV) drug that works by blocking an enzyme called integrase, which the HIV virus needs to multiply inside your body. By blocking this enzyme, the drug helps reduce the amount of HIV in your blood and keeps your immune system stronger.
Inhibits HIV integrase enzyme, preventing the integration of viral DNA into the host cell's chromosomal DNA and blocking viral replication. This action stops the establishment of persistent HIV infection and reduces viral load in treated patients.

If you remember the same day, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for a missed dose. Try to take your medicine at the same time every day to help you remember.

Antacids, calcium supplements, and iron tablets should not be taken at the same time as Dolutegravir; take them at least 2 hours before or 6 hours after your dose, as they reduce how well the drug works. Alcohol should be limited as it can worsen side effects like liver problems and make it harder for you to remember your doses consistently.
