Chorionic gonadotrophin (hCG) is a hormone injection that works like the body's natural fertility hormones. It helps trigger the release of eggs in women and boosts sperm production in men by mimicking a hormone made during pregnancy.
Binds to luteinizing hormone (LH) receptors on Leydig cells (in males) and theca cells (in females), mimicking endogenous LH to stimulate testosterone production in men and progesterone synthesis in women, thereby promoting spermatogenesis, testicular descent, and ovulation respectively.
Fertility problems in women (helps trigger ovulation), low sperm count in men, undescended testicles in young boys, delayed puberty
