Who is this for?

Cholecalciferol is Vitamin D3, a natural vitamin that helps your body absorb calcium and phosphorus from your food so your bones and teeth stay strong.

Is Cholecalciferol safe to take with another drug?

For adults with Vitamin D deficiency, a common dose is 1,000 to 5,000 IU daily, but your doctor may prescribe higher doses depending on your blood levels. Take it with a meal that contains some fat or oil — for example with rice and stew — because Vitamin D absorbs better with fat. Available in Nigeria as Pharmasolutions Vitamin D Syrup (5,000 IU per 5 mL) and in tablet or capsule forms.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the one you missed.

If you are taking heart drugs like digoxin, Vitamin D can increase the risk of dangerous side effects — tell your doctor. Thiazide water tablets (diuretics) used for high blood pressure can cause calcium levels to go too high when combined with Vitamin D. Antacids containing magnesium or aluminium can also interact, so space them apart.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in a car or near a window. Keep the bottle tightly closed to protect from humidity. Always keep it out of reach of children.
