Who is this for?

Calamine with Zinc oxide is a soothing skin lotion that works by cooling and drying the skin to relieve itching, irritation, and minor skin discomfort.

Is Calamine; safe to take with another drug?

Shake the bottle well before use. Apply a thin layer directly to the affected skin area using cotton wool or your clean fingers. You can apply it as often as needed — usually 2 to 4 times a day or whenever the itching returns. This is for external use only — do not swallow it or apply it inside your mouth, eyes, or private parts.

Since calamine lotion is used as needed for itching and irritation, there is no strict dosing schedule. Simply apply it whenever you feel the discomfort again.

Calamine lotion has very few interactions since it works only on the skin surface. However, avoid applying it at the same time as other medicated creams or ointments on the same spot — space them out by at least 30 minutes. If you are using a prescription skin cream, ask your pharmacist which one to apply first.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children to prevent them from drinking it accidentally. In hot Nigerian weather, you can store it in a cool corner of your room — no need to refrigerate unless you prefer the extra cooling effect.
