Shake the bottle well before use. Apply a thin layer directly to the affected skin area using cotton wool or your clean fingers. You can apply it as often as needed — usually 2 to 4 times a day or whenever the itching returns. This is for external use only — do not swallow it or apply it inside your mouth, eyes, or private parts.
Since calamine lotion is used as needed for itching and irritation, there is no strict dosing schedule. Simply apply it whenever you feel the discomfort again.
Buy from reputable pharmacies — avoid buying skincare products from roadside sellers or open markets where they may have been stored under the hot sun, which can spoil the product. This lotion is for skin use only — if a child accidentally swallows it, take them to the hospital immediately. If your skin condition does not improve after a week of use, see a doctor as you may need a stronger treatment.
Calamine lotion has very few interactions since it works only on the skin surface. However, avoid applying it at the same time as other medicated creams or ointments on the same spot — space them out by at least 30 minutes. If you are using a prescription skin cream, ask your pharmacist which one to apply first.

Is it safe to take Calamine; with your other drugs?
Calamine lotion is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding since it is applied externally and does not enter the bloodstream in significant amounts, but consult your doctor if you have concerns.
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use. Keep out of reach of children to prevent them from drinking it accidentally. In hot Nigerian weather, you can store it in a cool corner of your room — no need to refrigerate unless you prefer the extra cooling effect.
For information only — not medical advice. Always talk to a doctor or pharmacist before changing your medication.
