Take one tablet once a day, preferably in the morning, with or without food. Swallow with water — do not crush or chew. Your doctor will usually start you on a low dose (like 2.5 mg or 5 mg) and may increase it gradually. Do not stop taking this drug suddenly without your doctor's advice, as it can cause serious heart problems.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. But if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue your normal schedule. Never take two tablets at once to make up for it.
Do not stop taking bisoprolol suddenly — your doctor should reduce your dose gradually to avoid dangerous heart problems. Always buy from a licensed pharmacy (brands like Concor or Corbis are well known in Nigeria) and avoid roadside sellers. Do not share your prescription with someone else even if they have similar symptoms, as the wrong dose can be very dangerous.
Avoid drinking alcohol as it can make dizziness and low blood pressure worse. Do not combine with other blood pressure drugs like amlodipine or verapamil without your doctor's knowledge, as your blood pressure could drop dangerously low. Be careful with painkillers like ibuprofen (e.g. Brufen) as they can reduce how well bisoprolol works.
