This is a topical ointment (commonly known as Whitfield's Ointment) that combines benzoic acid and salicylic acid to fight fungal infections on the skin. Benzoic acid kills the fungus while salicylic acid helps peel away the infected skin so the medicine can work better.
Inhibits fungal cell membrane integrity and disrupts protein synthesis by promoting keratin desquamation and creating an acidic environment hostile to fungal growth; salicylic acid additionally keratolytic action enhances penetration of benzoic acid into infected tissue layers.

If you forget to apply it, just apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one and continue as normal. Do not apply double the amount to make up for it.

Complete the full course of treatment even when the skin looks clear, because stopping too early can make the fungus come back.
