How to take this drug
For adults, take 1 to 2 chewable tablets or 10 to 20 ml of suspension, usually 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime, or whenever you feel heartburn or stomach discomfort. Chew the tablets well before swallowing — do not swallow them whole. Shake the suspension bottle well before each use. You can take it up to 4 times a day, but do not exceed the dose on the pack.
What if I Miss a Dose?
Since this medicine is usually taken only when you have symptoms (not on a fixed schedule), there is no real missed dose. Simply take it when you next feel heartburn, bloating, or stomach discomfort. Do not double up.
What to watch out for
Buy only trusted brands like Dexanta, Gasmag, Gastacid, Avrocid, Digicid, or Ebecid from a registered pharmacy — avoid buying antacids from roadside sellers or open markets as they may be expired or fake. Do not use this medicine continuously for more than 2 weeks without seeing a doctor, as ongoing stomach pain could be a sign of something more serious. If you are taking other medicines, always space them out from this antacid by at least 2 hours.

Serious Side Effects
- Severe or persistent diarrhoea or constipation that does not stop
- signs of allergic reaction such as rash
- swelling of the face or difficulty breathing
- muscle weakness or confusion — if you notice any of these
- stop the medicine and see a doctor immediately.
Drug Interactions
This antacid can reduce the effectiveness of many other medicines if taken at the same time — especially antibiotics like ciprofloxacin and tetracycline, so take them at least 2 hours apart. It can also reduce the absorption of iron supplements and malaria drugs. Avoid taking it at the same time as any other oral medication; leave a gap of at least 1 to 2 hours.

Occasional use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally considered safe, but do not use it regularly or in high doses without consulting your doctor or midwife first.
Who Should NOT Take This
- People with severe kidney problems should avoid this medicine. Do not take it if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. People with very low phosphate levels or those on dialysis should also avoid it. Children under 6 years should not take it without a doctor's advice.
How to Store
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat — Nigerian weather can be very hot, so avoid leaving it in your car or near a window. Do not freeze the suspension. Always keep the bottle tightly closed and store out of reach of children.
