Antacid and anti-flatulent combination
Last reviewed July 2026
Who is this for?
This is a combination antacid and anti-gas medicine that works by neutralizing excess stomach acid (aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium trisilicate), forming a protective barrier on top of your stomach contents to prevent acid from rising up (alginic acid), and breaking up gas bubbles in your stomach to relieve bloating (simeticone).
Neutralizes gastric acid through chemical reaction with hydrochloric acid while alginic acid forms a protective viscous barrier over the gastric mucosa; additionally, simeticone reduces surface tension of gas bubbles, promoting coalescence and expulsion of intestinal gas.
Heartburn, stomach ulcer pain, acid reflux (when acid rises from your stomach to your throat), indigestion, stomach gas and bloating, belching

Since this medicine is usually taken when you feel symptoms like heartburn or stomach pain, there is no strict schedule. Simply take your next dose when you need it. Do not double up to make up for a missed dose.
Buy only from reputable pharmacies by looking for trusted brands like Nugel Suspension or Nugel-O Suspension and avoiding unregistered products from roadside sellers. Do not use this medicine continuously for more than 2 weeks without seeing a doctor, as persistent stomach pain could be a sign of something more serious. If your symptoms get worse or you notice blood in your stool or vomit, see a doctor immediately.
This medicine can reduce the absorption of other drugs like antibiotics (e.g. tetracycline, ciprofloxacin) and iron tablets, so take them at least 2 hours apart. It may also reduce how well antimalarials and some heart medications work. Avoid taking it at the same time as other prescription medicines without checking with your pharmacist.
