How to take this drug
For poisoning emergencies, the usual adult dose is 50 to 100 grams (mixed with water to form a slurry) taken by mouth as soon as possible after swallowing the poison. For gas and bloating, take 500mg to 1g (2 to 4 tablets of Ultracoal 250) after meals or when you feel bloated. Swallow with a full glass of water. It works best when taken within one hour of swallowing a harmful substance.
What if I Miss a Dose?
Activated charcoal is mostly used in emergencies, so missed doses are not usually an issue. If you are taking it regularly for gas or bloating and you miss a dose, simply take it when you remember. Do not double up.
What to watch out for
Activated charcoal is NOT a cure-all detox — ignore claims on social media that it 'cleans your body' of everyday toxins. In poisoning emergencies, always rush to the nearest hospital even after giving charcoal — it is first aid, not a replacement for proper medical care. Buy only from reputable pharmacies and look for known brands like Ultracoal 250 rather than unbranded products from roadside sellers.

Drug Interactions
Activated charcoal can reduce the effectiveness of almost any medicine you take by mouth, including malaria drugs, antibiotics, and contraceptive pills. If you are on any regular medication, take it at least 2 hours before or 1 hour after taking activated charcoal. It can also reduce the absorption of vitamins and supplements.
